| Impacts to the Messaging Environment Attributed to RCS |
| Apple launched iOS 18 in September, 2024, and as of June, 2025 has been installed on the majority of iPhones. Apple included support for RCS in iOS 18, enabling a more robust messaging experience with Android users using Google Messages. Short Message Service (SMS) and Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) have been the basis of text communication for wireless customers for more than 20 years. What impact has been observed on SMS and MMS by the mass deployment of RCS? This talk will discuss the current status of RCS support and the impacts to legacy messaging services. |
